About the Class:

"My family arrived upon America's shores in 1908 passing through Ellis Island and settling in the Italian ghetto of Hoboken, New Jersey. By the time I arrived in 1958, my parents had been married for eight years and moved into a small apartment above Fiore’s House of Quality on Adams Street.

"The four families that comprise my lineage (Russo, Santoro, DiBiassi and Luciano) all hailed from the Southern Italian region of Puglia, which comprises the heel of the Italian boot. Together with other Southern Italians, they began to assimilate and adapt their cuisine using the ingredients and sensibilities of their adopted home. Thus was born the tradition of the Feast of the Seven Fishes, served on each and every Christmas Eve as we gathered to celebrate with friends and family.

"The recipes presented in these classes are deeply personal and represent in a profound way my Southern Italian heritage and the pride I feel as an Italian American. The recipes are given a contemporary spin, reflecting both the past and the present as we look forward to welcoming the new year." — Chef Lenny Russo
